You know how sometimes no matter how much you plan, you realize you have no control? This was one of those times...
The storm that made headlines across the country roared through our yard shortly after 10:30 last night. I think it was all over before we even made it to the basement. It was crazy, fast and furious.
While I planned to get my exercise in front of the TV with the Biggest Loser trainer today...instead I spent that time, and lots more, picking up the "shredded" trees and fence that were fully intact yesterday. What a mess, but really we were so much more fortunate than many who were in the path of that storm. Sure it's an inconvenience, and certainly unsightly, but our house is intact and more importantly no life was lost in our part of the country.
So while I shredded a different set of muscles today, I also gave thanks all day for the many blessings in my life. Including my nephew who came to help cut up the downed trees, neighbors and even people we didn't know who came and helped us clean up.
Good things can come out of not so good situations.
*My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who suffered loss due to this crazy weather.
